Born in Portimão, he started musical studies at the Joly Conservatório Joly Braga Santos, where he had the opportunity to study with professors José Reis, Paulo Galvão, Veronika Kristófcsák and Eudoro Grade. He graduated from the Escola Superior de Música in Lisbon, in the class of Professor António Gonçalves. He also held a Post-Graduation in Music Teaching – Guitar, at the University of Évora, in the class of Professor Gonçalo Gouveia and, later, at the same institution, a Master’s Degree in Music Education – Guitar, in the class of Professor Dejan Ivanovic.
During his career he had the opportunity to attend masterclasses and workshops with several guitar masters, such as: Piñero Nagy, Fábio Zanon, Rafael Andia, Roland Dyens, Júdicael Perroy, Jérémy Jouve and Steve Vai.
From 2001 to 2017 he was a teacher at the Orquestra de Guitarras do Algarve. He was also a professor at the Academia de Música de Lagos for two years. Since 2010, he has been a professor at EBS da Bemposta, accumulating the functions of professor of Guitar, Chamber Music, Orchestra, Training Advisor in the Work Context and, also, the positions of Advisor to the Director, Director of the Professional Course of String and Keyboard Instrumentalist and Coordinator of the School Culture Project – Plano Nacional das Artes.
