with Ewelina Kotwa
19.07 – 30.07.2021
In the course of these two weeks, we will be experimenting with the site-specific format in Lagos, Portugal. We will discover strategies for working in public spaces. We will learn about horizontal and vertical cartography, allowing us to anchor the work deeper in the consciousness of the site. We will discuss the ethical aspects and responsibility going along with the creation and presentation of art in non-conventional spaces. We will develop drafts and sketches designed for particular locations in Lagos and finally, we will present and discuss them together. For years the site-specific format has been the favorite element in the artistic work of Ewelina Kotwa. She loves its capacity to reveal the hidden spaces, overlooked details and forgotten stories. All of them come back to life with new glory and the spectator has a chance to discover reality through a novel, unexpected lens.
